This commission highlights our skills in undertaking large scale parking studies to inform development proposals for Local Planning Authorities. The project provided a holistic study of Gravesend and went beyond simply looking at Council-managed car parks but also assessed the use of other publicly available car parks. Our analytical and presentation skills were used to illustrate how different car parks and to readily inform the Council of those car parks which were heavily utilised.
The project also allowed us to use our abilities in terms of parking demand forecasting, with forecasts up to 25 years into the future being provided for different development scenarios. We provided added value, through a high-level assessment of considering how major road and public transport infrastructure changes in the future might impact upon parking demand as a whole, as well as reviewing future technology and parking management arrangements. The data collected as part of the study has gone on to be used as part of subsequent Transport Assessments for development proposals on some of the car parks included within the study
