The East Herts District Plan (2018) identifies the site ‘North and East of Ware’ for a new mixed-use development of at least 1,000 new homes to the site by 2033 and identifies future potential for a further 500 homes, subject to suitable highway mitigation measures. Against this backdrop, the illustrative masterplan work has identified that up to 1,800 homes.

The development of a sustainable transport package will be key to the success of the project and unlocking a greater quantum of development. The package includes the provision of a new bus service, new cycle hire schemes and the design of a sustainable transport corridor.
