From Land's End to John o'Groats - £7,000 Raised for Crisis
MA are very proud to announce that, together with supporters from MA Aarchitects, Peacock & Smith, AHMM, CBRE, DWD, Reside, West End Project, Town Legal, Countryside, New Steer, MAA, HGH, Murphy's, HEOR and Gillings Planning, we have managed to raise more than £7,000 for Crisis.
A big congratulations to Allies and Morrison's Yellow Team, who crossed the finish line first with two weeks to spare. Commiserations to DP9 Limited's Blue Team who were only just pipped to the post, but a fantastic effort by everyone who took part.
As planners, architects, place makers and design consultants, our work often centres around the delivery of improved or new housing, and it is hard not to be aware how many people lack safe and stable access to a place to call home.
Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. During the pandemic, they have been supporting those that are homeless, lonely and isolated. They are helping people to shelter from the virus, and then supporting them to find a stable and permanent home. This is the foundation we all need to be able to survive and thrive.
Crisis are seeing more people under extreme pressure and facing homelessness after losing their job during the pandemic and are helping people with the support they need to get back into work. They're working with governments across Britain to ensure policies are in place to support people who are homeless now to find safe, secure homes and stay housed once the pandemic is over; and to prevent more people becoming homeless because of the outbreak.
This week, MA received a letter from Crisis:
You’ve helped someone take the next step
Thank you so much for your generous gift of £7,108.61 through your virtual Lands End to John O’Groats challenge. You’ve helped someone take the next step towards a brighter future
Since the coronavirus outbreak began, we’ve never had a better understanding of the value of home – and why having somewhere safe and secure to live should be available to all.
As more people face the prospect of losing their home, your support will help us continue to be there, side by side with people, every step of the way. Until everyone in our society has a place they can call home. We’re helping people find work, with specialist teams who connect people with employers, helping with CVs and interview skills, and providing a range of virtual training courses and classes.
We can only do all this with your help. Once again, thank you for your fundraising and support.
With very best wishes,
Community & Events Fundraising Team Manager
MA would like to extend that gratitude to everyone who took part, donated via Just Giving or simply cheered on their friends and loved ones as they took yet another run around the park. A particular shout out goes to our own MD Andreas Markides, who gets the prize for 'The running route that most resembled spaghetti', although we still believe most of his distance should be credited to Luna the labrador.
This closes our virtual Land's End to John o'Groats mission, but this is only the beginning. We hope to see you all again next year with a new mission. Until then, we wish you a great summer out of lockdown, stay safe and we look forward to being able to see you in person sometime in the near future.
