New Hotel for London Luton Airport
Markides Associates are pleased to have been part of the design team for a 171-room hotel located adjacent to London Luton Airport, which achieved planning consent during last week’s Luton Borough Council planning committee.
Working with the project architect ICA and planning consultant Rapleys, we were able to inform the proposed site layout and prepare a strategy to address the allocation of car parking between the site and an additional hotel adjacent, with planning deliverables being a Transport Statement and Travel Plan.
The hotel will form part of the infrastructure necessary to support the intended expansion of London Luton Airport. The reduction in existing hotel guest car parking to accommodate the proposals will encourage new guests to access the hotel, and therefore airport, by sustainable modes of travel, such as the Luton DART (Direct Air Rail Transit) service, which will link the airport terminals to Luton Parkway Station and is scheduled to open in 2021.Back to News
