Markides Associates were appointed by Landsec to support the transport planning and highways design of the Timber Square development in Central London. The building is a landmark project, with despite its size, being a net zero carbon scheme. This is achieved by retaining one of the existing buildings, which brings the benefit of keeping its unique character whilst using natural and recycled materials throughout, and a lighter timber structure means less carbon emissions, particularly during the construction stage of the project.

Markides Associates supported the team in assessing and quantifying the construction emissions benefits generated by the re-use of the existing structure and the use of alternative materials.

Furthermore, we helped design and define the wider benefits of the scheme at ground floor which include a new public space between the two buildings and a new pedestrian connection linking Ewer Street and Lavington Street with activated street frontage and high-quality materials.
